Chalet Maison Jaune is located overlooking the pretty alpine village of Les Houches at the entrance to Chamonix valley.
It has a rural location, surrounded by fields and woodland. The area is quiet and tranquil, and overlooks the fishing lake at Les Chavants.
The house is set in nearly 4,000m2 of land.
Solar-heated Swimming Pool
We have a 7m x 3.5m above-ground swimming pool which holds 42,000 litres of water with a sand filtration system. Solar-heated, it should provide many hours of delight for children and adults alike to swim, bathe and relax in. We also provide lilos so you can float around, whilst enjoying an ice-cold pina colada, or gin and tonic!

Full-size trampoline and garden games
We have a full-size school-bed rectangular trampoline which your children (or adults) are allowed to use, under your watchful eye.
We also have boules and badminton sets, giant jenga, and a Taichi Rouli ball set available for your amusement and pleasure.
BBQ on the terrace
We have a separate BBQ area on the terrace with a BBQ available for your use, should you fancy a relaxed summer's evening BBQ - perhaps a sumptuous char-grilled steak or côte de boeuf!Wi-Fi throughout the chalet - stay connected
You have unlimited access to the internet from your own laptop, tablet or mobile via our Wi-Fi network through the chalet.
We also have a guest computer and printer available, should you feel the need to check your emails.

Fantastic accommodation
All the bedrooms have their own toilet and shower facilities. Four of the bedrooms are ensuite, whilst the fifth bedroom has its facilities just adjacent to the room. The master bedroom also has a bath as well as a shower. Plus, all of the bathrooms are fitted with heated towel rails. We know the sheer pleasure of emerging from a hot shower after a tiring day to be enveloped by an enormous, warm, fluffy white bathtowel. Simply delightful.
The bathroom taps are served from our industrial-sized Athena boiler, which provides bathloads of constant hot water, rather than a hot water tank. This means, not only will the chalet never normally run out of hot water, but the hot water comes straight out of the tap piping hot, like in decent hotels. The cold water in the rooms comes directly from the mains, and so is completely safe to drink too.
We also provide hairdryers for your convenience.

Rustic bedrooms with charm and space
With a lot of other ski chalets, the rooms are sometimes smaller than they appear. ...or there is the attic or basement room, that no-one wants. You know: the one that isn't photographed in the brochure!
Instead, Maison-Jaune delights with the comfort, spaciousness and airiness of all its rooms.
All the bedrooms give you a fresh, energetic feeling that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning and make the most of the day. The walls are warming pastel-colours, and there are modern stylish curtains, and hardwood cedar floors which provide warmth and that rustic charm that only French chalets have. The white plastered ceilings have little silver spotlights for illumination, and the wooden supporting beams are exposed in the top-floor bedrooms.
Scandinavian pine wardrobes and bedside cabinets provide ample storage to hang or store your clothes. And all the rooms have comfortable pine chairs - don't we all simply throw our clothes over the chair at the end of an exhausting day!

ALL the bedrooms have balcony access with STUNNING views over the mountain range of Chamonix. Every single bedroom in the chalet looks out over Les Houches and the Chamonix valley, the Aiguille du Midi and the Mont-Blanc massif.

The best night's sleep
The bed linen is soft, white and freshly-starched with perfect hospital corners, whilst the mattresses are firm, comfortable and supportive. Whilst the beds can be transformed into either double or twins, they are "zip-lock" which prevents the mattresses from spreading - so you never disappear down a gap between the mattresses. We know how annoying that can be. In addition, we have thick duck-feather mattress toppers to make the zip-lock double beds even more comfortable.
Finally, each bed is smothered with plump, goose-feathered, down pillows and summer-weight duvets which ensure simply the best night's sleep - so you will be ready for the following day's adventures.
We have other pillows and duvets available should you be allergic to goose-feather.

Self-Catering? A kitchen worthy of a professional awaits you.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped: the Rosières cooker has five gas-burning stove hobs, two ovens which are large enough to roast a turkey each, and a hot plate too. Also, there is an enormous extraction fan to keep the kitchen fume-free and at a pleasant temperature. In addition, there are two fridges available for you to use, as well as a microwave and dishwasher. No-one wants to be washing dishes on holiday.
There is a toaster, salad spinner, and enough crockery, cutlery and glassware for 12 place settings.
Finally, we have a Delonghi bean-to-cup coffee machine which prepares fantastic cups of coffee from whole beans.

Unwind in the Jacuzzi
When you return to the chalet, or even after dinner, you can relax and enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi. This is permanently heated on the raised pine wooden decking of the terrace. In Summer, there is nothing like a thousand litres of bubbling hot water at 37.5 degrees Celsius to relax your aching muscles. Under the stars, most guests love to sip pink champagne or enjoy a beer. Soft illumination from the underwater lights and the icicle lights on the house create a wondrous atmosphere at night, as you warmly bathe in the fresh mountain air with the stars twinkling all above.
Chill out with a movie and popcorn
In the lounge, you can put your feet up on the enormous sofa that seats 10 comfortably and watch one of over 1,700 movies on our entertainment system with surround sound and 50" HD television. We have movies for all tastes: warm romantic comedies, action thrillers, children's animations like Shrek, as well as James Bond, Indiana Jones and Star Wars. There are classic old movies, and stand-up comedians. We have lots to keep minds, both young and old, entertained!
Alternatively, you can catch up on the news or other UK programs which are available via UK satellite.
We also have over 15,000 music tracks, including the entire back catalogue of Queen, Dire Straits and the Beatles albums.
Please feel free to bring your favourite movies or music.
You can plug your iPod in, or stream your favourite music wirelessly to our system via Airplay.

Relax and Read a book
Alternatively, browse through the library in the lounge. The books range from children's classics, such as the "Mister Men" and Enid Blyton, through the "Da Vinci Code" to cheesy romance novels, Indian cookery books, gardening and fitness books, and even World Atlases. With over 250 different titles, you should find something to cater for most tastes.
We also have packs of cards and a selection of board games.
Play Video Games on the Nintendo Wii
We also have a Nintendo Wii with two controllers, nunchuks, and balance board.
Go head to head against your friends on the ski slalom, or try your skill at ski jumping - all from the safety of the lounge!

Secure bike storage
The chalet is conveniently located right on the Les Houches mountain biking trails here in Chamonix valley.
The chalet has secure bike storage, and a hose so you can wash down your mountain bikes when they get dirty.
